Santorini, known as a dazzling city in Greece is one of the best cities one should visit in southeastern Europe. A city which is famous for its gleaming panoramas romantic sunsets and volcanic-sand beaches attracts many tourists each year. Its 2 principal towns, Fira and Oia cling to cliffs above an underwater caldera in Santorini.

The best time one should travel to Santorini is in July and August. The shoulder-season months of April, May, early June, late September and October are better times to visit.

Things to do in Santorini

1.Santorini caldera


This is a large, mostly submerged caldera located in the southern Aegean Sea. There are two small volcanic islands at the centre of the caldera, Nea,Kameni and palea. 

2. Ancient Thera

This is an antique city on a ridge of the steep. 360 m high Mesa Vouno mountain on the Greek Island. Ancient Thera is today open to the public and can be reached on a winding road that starts at Kamari or several footpaths from both sides of the mountain.

3.Museum of Prehistoric Thera

This museum is located in Fira. It was built on the site of the old Ypapanti Church which was destroyed in the 1956 Amorgos earthquake. The Museum houses a very large number of ancient artefacts from various excavations. 

4.Santo Wines

Santorini’s lauded wines are its crisp dry whites and the amber-coloured, unfortified dessert wine known as Vinsanto. Both are made from the indigenous grape variety, assyrtiko.
